OK 24 hours and no one responded to your question yet.....I can't take it any more so here is my two cents worth!
Save your money and buy a Gibson! You wouln't regret it and will love playing a fine instrument so you will practice more! After all 80% of the professionals play a Gibson banjo! 10% of the rest play Stellings, Which will be my next banjo to ADD to my colection....NOT replace my Gibson, and the rest play a mixture of everything else.
As far as instruction goes, First find a good instructor in your area. Secondly go to www.murphymethod.com and buy a few tapes.
Also subscribe to Banjo news letter and Bluegrass Unlimited. They both have web sites that you can get more information from.
Good luck and practice often!
