Waylon was a friend of mine and I sure am going to miss him... Waylon once told me that he and Buddy Holly enjoyed playing bluegrass songs together. He said that Buddy played banjo.
Randy Escobedo mentioned earlier in this thread that Waylon recorded with the ESR. I'd also like to add that Earl recorded Waylon's "Good Hearted Woman" for his "American Made / World Played" album... Mutual fans, no doubt about it.
Earl & Waylon are both members of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
