Every year for the last 8 years I have attended the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society annual convention in July in Nashville at the Music City Sheraton Hotel. It is four wonderfull days of finger picking guitar with the greatest guitarist in the world performing. While he was alive and able, Chet played a concert on the final evening. My question is-is there a similar event for banjo ? I have found where there is a S.P.B.G.M.A./BLN festival at this same hotel in February. In the past, Earl has performed at the Gibson Bluegrass showcase on that Saturday of the convention. This even sounds very similar to the Chet convention. Has anyone attended this convention and is it indeed the meca of banjo playing ? Earl Scruggs is to banjo what Chet was/is to fingerstyle guitar !!
