Hi, also maybe you need a smaller size thumbpick. If you cut grooves in your pick, don't groove the side that your thumb goes through first, groove on the other side. That way when you slide your thumb in it is smooth, but catches on your thumb coming out so it doesn't slip. Also maybe you need to slide the pick farther up on your thumb. I hope this helps a little bit.
