Well, here's the story. When John came to Greenwich Village in the very early 70's, he would visit the Folklore Center and my place, The Fretted Instruments School and he wanted me to listen to his newest song that he had written and said that Chet Atkins loved it.
He asked my opinion about the song and I said. "Well John, it's a really nice piece but I'm not sure it'll ever be as good as Chet or you think or that it would ever make the charts. The song turned out to be "Gentle On My Mind". He teased me about that for years.
