For Hoedown George and people in agreement about to tab or not to tab:

While I'm certainly not in favor of stealing music or creating exact transcriptions of Earl's tunes for profit, I do feel that when people look at and hear replicas of certain tunes, they go out and purchase the real sound--via CD or book.

I've been teaching banjo and guitar for 20+ years and can't tell you how many hundreds of people have bought Earl's and many other bluegrass artist's CDs and books by letting them look and hear what they have been missing via tab and midi files.

You folks who think this a form of stealing are forgetting that you have probably been playing this form of music for many years and are already enlightened.

Like I said earlier, If I, or any other person made a profit from this form of communication, then your argument would have more weight. We who put so much time into creating these tabs for people's enjoyment, only want to promote players we cherish so much. Mabye you could re-think your attitudes about what you feel.

I continually buy the latest release or re-release of Earl and many other pickers CDs. I'd like to hear what you think of my take on this delicate matter.........Thanks a bunch........Jack Baker

p.s. Are you absolutely sure that you have never downloaded your favorite tune? :-))......
